Visit our shop…
We have been on the Midlands Meander for 18 years. We moved here as we wanted to live on an arts and crafts route. Living here is a privilege, with low crime and plenty of fresh air, interesting weather, plenty of interesting entrepreneurial folks around, and lots of little country roads that we love to explore with our scramblers.
At Aladdin’s-de-light you will find stained glass made by Jan & Louise van Niekerk. We have been doing stained glass for 28 years, and all the lamps, mirrors and windows in the shop have been made by us. We do most of our work to order, as we find that many people need something custom made for their homes.
All the pottery is handmade by Louise. Just ask and will show you how Raku is made. Raku is taken out of the kiln at 960⁰ and put into sawdust. Every pot is unique as cracks form in the glaze surface, and some parts turn black from the smoke. There is also stoneware and functional earthenware to see.
Also enjoy the art by local artists such as Peter Feek, Hillary Grant Curry, Hermien Spies Coleman and others. Be sure to keep an eye out for art by Bartolome Vaccarezza. Bartolome is a famous Argentinian artist, known in South America as “El Maestro”. He is a superb master of movement, and his passion for horses and the tango are apparent for all who see his work.
We stock a small range of homemade biscuits, rusks and jams.
If you are in search of trout, we have smoked trout fillets and deboned baby trout.
